Creating Timelines:
Open Mind 2 has 5 map views. You may create simple timelines by choosing the timeline view. If you wish to to include more in-depth information in your final presentation, however, it's a good idea to begin with the mind map view and later switch to the timeline view.
Step 1: Create your mind map, insert branches and sub-branches, add any text or other items (For this training session, toggle open the instruction sheet and follow directions.)
  • Note: If you want your timeline entries to be color-coded in any way, it needs to be done on the mind map view.(General Tab > Properties > Text Color)
  • Be sure to add text and perhaps a picture to the text note editor of the Main Subject if you want a nice looking title page when you publish. Use the multimedia catalog to add pictures to the text note editor of each branch if you want images on your web page. Your finished map may look something like this:
    History_of_Flight_Timeline_Sample.jpg
Step 2: Convert mind map to timeline:
View > View Map as > Timeline
Step 3: Insert dates into the chart that appears. The information will be found on the attached document:
(Right click and choose "Open in New Window" )
Double click in each cell to add date. Dialog box will appear.
